When to Discuss Migraine Prevention
Dr. Mahsa Pahlavanzadeh
Board-Certified Neurologist
Discuss your headaches with a board-certified neurologist to understand your treatment options and plan your next steps.
What to Expect at NeuroIntuition
Your evaluation includes a neurological examination appropriate to your concerns and visit format, followed by an explanation of the findings and next steps.
Fees and scheduling options are explained before an appointment is confirmed. During your consultation, there is time for questions about the findings and care plan. Our office can help with scheduling during staffed hours.
A Note
Frequent Headache Medicine Use
Some medicines used to relieve a headache can contribute to more frequent headaches when used too often. The type of medicine and how frequently it is used both matter.
Frequent headaches or needing headache medicine often are reasons to review your treatment plan with your clinician. Do not stop or change medicines on your own.
This short video provides general education, not individual medical advice.

Dr. Mahsa Pahlavanzadeh is seated at a desk in the practice office, working at a laptop. Educational text appears over the scene. No patient is shown. This version has no audio.
Example dialogue:
“What do you take when you get a migraine?”
“Excedrin. Usually 2 tablets. Almost every day.”
This example is not a medication or dosing recommendation.
On-screen explanation: What many people don’t realize: using some acute headache medications too often — how often depends on the type — can lead to more headaches in people with migraine.
It’s called medication-overuse headache. Not about any single pill being “bad” — it’s about how often, and which kind.
Frequent headaches or near-daily medication use? That’s worth a conversation with your clinician. MOH is preventable and treatable.
