Recurring headaches can have different patterns and causes. The purpose of the visit is to understand what you are experiencing, review prior care, identify safety concerns, and explain reasonable next steps.

Review headache frequency, duration, associated symptoms, triggers, and how headaches affect daily life.

Discuss previous evaluations, treatments, medication response, relevant records, and unresolved questions.

Recognizing migraine and other headache patterns
Migraine and other headache disorders can present differently for each person. Conditions commonly evaluated include migraine with or without aura, tension headaches, cluster headaches, chronic daily headaches, and headaches related to stress, sleep, or other neurological conditions.
Symptoms people describe include throbbing or pulsing head pain, sensitivity to light or sound, nausea, visual disturbances (aura), neck tension or pressure, and fatigue or difficulty concentrating.
Treatment is individualized
No single treatment is right for every person. Recommendations depend on the headache pattern, examination, medical history, prior treatments, medications, risks, preferences, and the clinician’s judgment. Depending on the evaluation, a plan may draw on preventive medications, acute treatments, lifestyle and trigger management, sleep and nutrition guidance, or other therapies.
For some adults whose evaluation supports chronic migraine, an in-office preventive procedure may be one option to discuss. The procedure is not appropriate for everyone and has important risks. The physician determines whether it should be considered after reviewing the full clinical picture.
